At Kind Kids Therapy Center, we believe that parent involvement is not optional—it’s essential. You know your child better than anyone else, and your intuition, experience, and voice matter in building a successful therapy experience. That’s why we invite you to participate in the selection of your child’s RBT. Your insights help us set the foundation for a strong, lasting therapeutic relationship—and better outcomes.

Why Parent Involvement in Choosing the RBT Matters
1. Comfort & Connection
Children thrive when they feel safe and understood.
Parents can sense if their child is comfortable around a therapist—this is key to building trust.
When a child clicks with their RBT, they are more likely to engage and make progress.
2. Stronger Family-Therapist Bond
Parent involvement early in the process sets expectations for open, collaborative communication.
A good match increases the likelihood of the RBT staying on the case longer—consistency is crucial in ABA therapy.
3. Empowered Parenting
When parents feel heard and respected, they become more engaged in the therapeutic process.
Feeling part of the decision empowers you to be an active partner in your child’s success.
The RBT Matching Process at Kind Kids
Initial Meeting You’ll meet the candidates options. We encourage you to observe how your child interacts with them, during a pairing session.
Feedback Session We’ll ask for your input. Did your child feel comfortable? Did the RBT show empathy and patience?
Collaborative Decision We’ll use your feedback and clinical insights to determine the best fit. If it doesn’t feel right, we’ll explore other options.
How to Know If Your Child’s RBT is a Great Fit
Here are some signs your RBT is not only implementing ABA correctly but is also a strong personal fit for your child and family.

Uses clear goals based on your child’s individualized treatment plan.
Collects data consistently and makes decisions based on it.
Implements behavior strategies as designed (e.g., reinforcement schedules, prompting hierarchies, extinction, etc.).
Adjusts based on your child’s learning style and pace.
Red Flags in Practice:
No data collection or inconsistent documentation.
Frequently deviates from the treatment plan without BCBA consultation.
Doesn’t explain strategies or avoids answering questions about goals.

Adaptable—able to shift strategies when needed.
Respectful toward your home, culture, and values.
Collaborative—they want to include YOU in the process.
Signs of a Great Therapist-Child Relationship
Your child smiles or reaches out to the therapist.
The therapist understands how to motivate your child.
The therapist navigates challenging behaviors without frustration.
Sessions are structured but enjoyable—your child shows progress and calm over time.
Tips for Parents to Stay Involved and Informed
Ask your RBT or BCBA to explain the purpose behind each strategy.
Request to review session notes or data collection sheets.
Be part of goal setting and regularly attend parent training sessions.
Share what works at home—your insights help build a consistent, effective plan.
If something doesn’t feel right, speak up! We’re in this together.
Parent Empowerment Backed by Research
Programs like RUBI (Research Units in Behavioral Intervention) have demonstrated that parent involvement improves retention, satisfaction, and outcomes. In studies, 92–95% of parents attended sessions and would recommend the training to others. This speaks volumes about how crucial your role is.
You are not just a bystander—you’re a co-pilot on this journey. When you’re involved from the beginning, your child’s therapy becomes more meaningful, consistent, and successful. At Kind Kids, we celebrate this partnership.
Let’s work together to build a brighter future for your child—one RBT at a time.
